**Main purpose of the job**:

- To oversee and manage quality assurance activities for clinical trials related to a specific grant

**Location**:

- **PHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Oversee and manage Quality Assurance activities for clinical trials related to a large grant at PHRU
- Develop, review, edit and implement standard operating procedures and other requirements
- Facilitate and conduct training
- Advice on regulatory and clinical trial practice according to South African, internal, and sponsor standards
- Facilitates and participates in project meetings
- Track and report on all activities
- Manages and replies to project-related correspondence
- Scheduling of study/grant activities
- Proactively develops strategies to enhance and improve quality assurance and clinical trial conduct

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences**:

- **Additional qualifications/diplomas/training (e.g., related to clinical trials, monitoring, auditing, etc.)**:

- **Moderate computer skills using MS Excel, MS word, etc.**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **At least 2 -3 years of clinical research monitoring/quality assurance experience at a clinical trial site, for a clinical research association or sponsor**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Must possess strong organizational skills
- The ability to work in a complex and demanding environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be detail orientated with exceptional monitoring/auditing skills
- Must be able to work as a member of a team and independently
- Work simultaneously with different study investigators
- Required to oversee and manage different tasks with different timelines
- Must develop and implement constructive long-term strategies to enhance clinical trial quality at the unit (both quality control and quality assurance activities)
- Ability to mentor and train staff
- Problem-solving, conflict management, project management, time management, excellent writing skills, and report writing
- Communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Helpful and solution-orientated
