Test Lab Manager

**Purpose of the Job**:
The Test Lab Manager plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the various test labs utilized by Shoprite Technology. The Test Lab Manager holds the responsibility of managing and coordinating all activities in the various software testing laboratories, ensuring that the infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networking components, is properly managed and maintained. Additionally, the Test Lab Manager efficiently allocates and utilizes testing equipment while providing oversight of third-party managed labs, where applicable.

**Job Objectives**:
Test Labs Management:

- Manage and oversee the test labs, including the maintenance of all test environments and equipment.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the test labs to ensure that they are in an operational state.
- Ensure that test environments are properly configured and are available when needed.
- Conduct site visits and provide oversight of third-party managed labs (local travel required)
- Coordinate with the Practice Enablement Lead and/or Test Lead to ensure that testing processes and procedures are properly executed.

Asset Utilisation:

- Maintain an asset register for all test labs.
- Manage general maintenance of all test lab equipment.
- Maintain the lab asset planning schedule to ensure that assets are properly working and ready for use in line with the schedule.
- Ensure the test lab equipment is always up and running by using applicable monitoring tools.
- Ensure on-time resolution of incidents pertaining to lab asset configuration management.

Test Planning and Execution:

- Collaborate with the Test Leads to develop and maintain a testing schedule and allocate test lab equipment resources accordingly.

Resource Management:

- Ensure that test lab equipment is properly allocated and utilised efficiently.
- Optimize lab asset utilisation and configuration by actively monitoring the utilisation of equipment in the test lab.
- Collaborate with the Test Leads to identify and implement areas for improvement in equipment utilisation.

Performance Management:

- Monitor and measure the performance of the test labs and regularly provide reports to the relevant stakeholders.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of test lab processes and procedures, and implement changes as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MCSE, MCSA, A+, N+ or a related field - (desired).
- +6 years’ experience in managing a test lab or similar role.

**Experience**:

- Understanding of testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Solid incident management experience within a similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
