POSITION: BUYER AND STORES MANAGER

About the Position:
The Buyer and Stores Manager is responsible for purchasing operational supplies. Additionally, they will be responsible for controlling all incoming and outgoing inventory for the company while sourcing the best value in prices and managing vendors.

Working Conditions:

- Contract type: Permanent
- Shift of position: 07:30 to 16:00 Mon-Fri and Sat 07:30 to 12:30
- Number of positions: One
- Location of position: KwaZulu - Natal

The position will be responsible for but not limited to:

- Control purchases and inventory levels and dispersal of all food, beverage and operational supplies.
- Maintain and develop the Purchases & Stock Control Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Control inventory levels and record keeping of all transfers to ensure cost controls are in place.
- Compile record of items purchased or transferred between departments, price, deliveries and inventory
- Receives market list from Production Manager, Quality Department and outlet supervisors and arranges for delivery of those items daily.
- Ensures that all orders are sent to their respective suppliers and vendors for delivery daily.
- Receives and verifies all deliveries for count and condition.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all purchases.
- Maintain internal control of all items.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays when needed.
- Responsible for scheduling and managing Stores staff.
- Utilise knowledge and skills to manage the Stores department function to ensure that required stock is managed and on hand for the production process
- Manage subordinates (Stores Supervisor; Orders Clerk; Stores Team Leaders) and assign tasks to ensure that the company’s Stores department is effective
- Source service providers who are able to deliver quality products as required by production
- Manage and ensure that stock levels are monitored and requisite orders for stock is made as and when required
- Prepare reports on stock ordered and received
- Identify training needs for subordinates and follow proper company procedure for training implementation
- Monitor and review performance of all subordinates
- Always abide by local legislative requirements.
- Ensure a health & safety (HSE) culture, policies and procedures are promoted, communicated, and implemented effectively.
- Ensure that the quality of service rendered meets or exceeds company and market acceptable standards.
- Manage overall quality of service for areas of responsibility.

**To be successful in this role you will need to meet the below minimum requirements**:

- Matric / Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 10 - 15 years’ experience in the FMCG retail store environment, 7 of which must be in a managerial role.
- Extensive experience in managing store operations, staff performance, reaching budgets, and building strong customer relationships.
- Strong negotiation skills and understanding of market dynamics.
- Strong staff management skills including labour law procedures etc
- Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office and ERP system)
- Excellent knowledge of handling commodities (fresh, frozen and dry).
- Highly collaborative and focused on teamwork.
- Leadership skills - display qualities of a good leader and set an example.
- Result orientated.
- Strategic thinker with good analytical skills.
- Ability to use multiple systems and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
