Technical Specialist: Architectural/engineering

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Matric Certificate
- NQF4 or equivalent, preferably with an architectural and/or engineering background
- Proficiency in understanding and interpreting technical drawings and project specifications
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of various roofing products, materials, and roofing systems
- Strong aptitude for mathematics and trigonometry
- Proficient in draughting related to the building and structural steel industry
- Experience in AutoCAD 2D, 3D, and Revit
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office
- Demonstrated leadership, self-confidence, and vision in major projects or initiatives
- 3-5 years of experience in a production environment in the steel industry
- Sound knowledge of the South African roof sheeting industry preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Results and deadline-driven
- Ability to work independently and under pressure

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Estimate sheeting and flashing requirements from drawings for quoting purposes
- Compile cutting lists for smaller projects for cash customers
- Collaborate with the Main Drawing Office to ensure timely provision of drawings for cutting list compilation
- Conduct site measurements as needed
- Attend site meetings with relevant Sales personnel for project-related work
- Maintain proper records of all warranties for future access and reference
- Ensure quality assurance of profiles for on-site rolling at the mill
- Work closely with the Sales team to promote service excellence in technical support
- Solve problems on-site as they arise
- Report to the Specifications Manager and assist the Specifications department in updating the Specifications Database for a more accurate pipeline
- Assist the Specifications department in setting up appointments as required

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- AutoCAD 2D, 3D and Revit: 3 years (required)
- production environment in the steel industry is essential: 3 years (required)
- South African roof sheeting industry: 1 year (preferred)
