Duties/PligteMaintaining and expanding the Anatomical Pathology teaching sets which currently contain ± 4000 cases. The teaching slides sets boxes require controlled rotation
amongst registrars in training, continuous updating of slide collections, physical and electronic cataloguing of newly referred histopathology teaching cases, and
addition of relevant clinical information;Annual revision of the teaching slide sets and catalogues in collaboration with a pathologist to maintain appropriate, balanced and high-quality teaching content;-
- Supporting undergraduate MBChB training, including the integration and establishment of a multidisciplinary, electronic catalogue of pathology-related teachingmaterial aimed at the revised MBChB programme;Converting selected Kodachrome pathology teaching sets compiled over recent decades to digital images that will complement the existing teaching sets and allowonline access to registrars and other students;Assisting with the updating and expansion of the physical and electronic neuropathology teaching archive;-
- Assisting with retrieving formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded blocks and slides for teaching purposes from the NHLS archive / Metro file system;-
- Assisting with the logistic arrangements related to teaching activities, e.g., cytology and placenta pathology workshops;-
- Assisting with the scanning of selected slides and overseeing the database of the virtual slide collection for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.Job Requirements/Pos VereistesA good understanding of medical terminology;- Competence in Excel and Word.
Recommendation/AanbevelingA good understanding of medical terminology, data and specimen processing, and pathology reports related to diagnostic anatomical pathology, as well as electronicmedical record systems.
