dmg events' South Africa is looking for a highly motivated Conference Producer to join their transport and logistics team, for a fixed-term contract.
The candidate should have at least 2 years of content production experience and will be responsible for delivering the content production for the transport series of events (South Africa, West Africa and East Africa). This is a fixed-term contract till the end of March 2025. The appropriate candidate will predominantly be focused on delivering the conference and workshop programmes for Transport Evolution Africa (In SA, taking place from the 4-6 March 2025), but will also assist in putting the content elements together and draft the programme for the other transport events taking place in 2025. (One in May and one in September).
The candidate must be able to travel internationally and have a passion for Africa. In exchange, we can provide a superb working environment and culture and exposure to exciting vertical domains and world-class products.

Job Purpose:

- Research and write content of conference programmes
- Manage/oversee key stakeholder relationships and work with the team to ensure they understand the value of these
- Identify key people to join the adboard. Ensure that adboard meetings take place on a periodic basis, to collect information on the key themes for the conference, suggestions on speakers, and other relevant industry news and information.
- Puts together workshop programme, liaising with industry bodies, clients and ED. Manages all workshop related elements onsite during the event.
- Ensures overall brand strategy is adhered to, in relation to conference and workshop production and marketing.
- Invite and secure high-level speakers for conferences
- Work with the ED to use content to drive the strategy for sponsorship, marketing and delegate sales

Responsibilities include:

- Drive direction of content and themes for all transport event programmes.
- Create a value proposition and USPs for each event and ensure product team are au fait with these.
- Liaise with and build relationships with key stakeholders in the industries we serve internationally

Job outline:
Programme development

- Market research – analyse industry based on research and develop into a commercial saleable conference programme.
- From market research, select, invite and secure high level speakers to cover all the key topics.
- Research and write the content of conference programmes in a variety of sectors.

Project management

- Manage a project plan adhere to deadlines.
- Run the conference onsite; deal with speakers
- Develop contacts to improve the event in the future and to bring on-stream new conferences.
- Provide post conference reports, and analysis.

Sales and marketing

- Commercial awareness and experience required to support the commercial viability of products.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure effective marketing of events
- From market research, provide copy for all promotional literature including the conference programme, website homepage and all electronic promotional campaigns.

Skills:

- Tertiary qualification preferred. (Graduate)
- Previous experience in a commercial conference company is advantageous.
- Ability to generate new topic ideas for future events.
- Ability to travel locally and internationally.
- Creative and original copywriting is a must together with attention to detail and logical thinking
- Strong telephone communication and face-to-face skills together with the ability to meet deadlines.
