Sales Support Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead consulting assignments. Each day, you will contribute to the development of consultancy products and services. You will also showcase your expertise by participating in the creation of consulting business strategy. The work model for the role is: Hybrid. This role is contributing to the Process Automation Energy Industries in Longmeadow. You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Takes a lead role to propose consulting services and solutions to meet the customer's needs.
2. Leads or supports the development of a special technology or area of best practice.
3. Actively participates in customer discussions; preparing technical proposals; techno-commercial negotiations; co-creation workshops with customers; technical guidance for the customer etc.
4. Makes contacts at senior level (e.g., Site Manager, Technical Director).
5. Negotiates contracts to win consulting assignments of 250 to 1500 hours.
6. Develops relationships and actively maintains a technical knowledge exchange with key technical contacts.
7. Ensures consistency in documenting knowledge/lessons learned and shares across the unit/team.
8. Coaches and develops consultants to deliver assignments and provides technical guidance to colleagues.
9. Identifies learning competency gaps in the consulting team and addresses the gap through active (technical) people development.
10. Applies standard processes and tools applicable to their own area of responsibility.
11. Creates work plans and cost estimates in their own area of responsibility.
12. Ensures quality and timely implementation within targeted cost.
13. Supports the development of new tools and processes for effectiveness.
14. Reports inefficiencies in processes and tools.
15. Conducts risk and opportunity assessments for consulting assignments.
16. Proposes and initiates actions to mitigate and control risks in one’s area of responsibility.
17. Identifies opportunities for repeat and new consulting business.
18. Manages contract activities including invoicing and work in progress.
19. Forms and leads teams to deliver assignments with a focus on operational execution.
20. Oversees and delivers consulting assignments.
21. Approves assignment tasks carried out by others.

Qualifications for the role

- Bachelor of Technology/Advanced Diploma or Equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years’ experience in the field of Electrical Engineering with extensive Electrical experience in Power Generation, Water industry, Oil & Gas.
- Lead roles in Tendering, Engineering and Execution. Experience in various project development and execution phases including engineering design.
- Works with the customer to shape and deliver solutions and seeks customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.
- Experience in Motors, Drives, Low/Medium Voltage Switchgear, Protections and Relays and Substations.
- Substation Automation System, IEC 61850 will be advantageous.
- Professional registration with ECSA will be advantageous.
- Report writing, compiling of technical specification, bills of quantities and contract documentation.
- Responsible for preparing detailed functional (CAD) and commercial documents in response to all requests for Tenders, Proposals and Quotations.
- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
- Collaborate closely with departmental leaders and Subject Matter Experts to craft comprehensive technical and commercial documentation.
- Take responsibility for ensuring tenders and submissions are completed in a timely manner meeting submission criteria.
- High level competency with Microsoft (MS) suite of software (MS Office / MS Teams / SharePoint), strong organizational ability and a sharp attention to detail.
- Experience of working as part of, as well as leading, a bid team (proven bid team leadership and involvement).
- Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
