We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fruit Accountant to join our team at Green Marble Recruitment Consultants. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our fresh produce business.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the fresh fruit industry. You will be responsible for managing creditors, capturing and reviewing produce costs, preparing payments to producers, and ensuring accurate ledgers for deductions on producer payments. Your attention to detail and ability to work under pressure will be essential in meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full creditors process on producers, ensuring timely payments and accurate records.
  • Capture and review produce costs, including related adjustments and variances.
  • Prepare and review weekly payments to producers, ensuring compliance with standard costs and forex handling.
  • Send payment remittances to producers and report on producer payment summaries.
  • Manage ledgers for any deductions on producer payments, updating and monitoring standard costs and related variances monthly.
  • Cashflow management, including processing commercial invoices and credit notes.
  • Invoice costs back to producers and manage balance sheet items related to control accounts on standard costs.
  • Perform various reporting tasks, including onboarding new customers and producers.
Requirements
  • BCompt/BTech degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the fresh fruit industry, with sufficient experience within the fresh fruit industry non-negotiable.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work cooperatively in a team and meet deadlines.
  • Good bilingual communication skills, with high attention to detail.
