Rhodes University is seeking an exceptional academic to join its team as a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in the Department of Secondary and Post-School Education.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to contribute to the development of our students and the advancement of educational leadership and management in South Africa.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop courses in Educational Leadership and Management, as well as other related areas such as Psychology, Sociology, or Philosophy of Education.
  • Conduct research in Educational Leadership and Management, with a focus on developing innovative solutions to real-world problems.
  • Supervise PhD and Master's level students in their research projects.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty-level administrative duties, including curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
  • Engage in community outreach and service, sharing expertise and promoting the university's mission.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A PhD in Education relevant to Educational Leadership and Management (ELM).
  • At least three years of experience in Teacher Education, with a minimum of two years of experience in schools.
  • Strong teaching and research experience in Education Studies, particularly in Educational Leadership and Management.
  • Research supervision experience at PhD level, with a proven track record of successful student outcomes.
  • Experience in administration, management, and/or leadership roles, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is R800,000 - R1,200,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Rhodes University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
