Babylonstoren is a leading technology and data services company that focuses on consolidating technology and data assets across its hospitality group of companies. The team's current responsibilities include software engineering, data management, warehousing, data analysis and reporting, website development, app development, and supporting hospitality platforms and technology.

The Role:

You will join an established data team consisting of data analysts, CRM administrators, and engineers. The data team has built a solid foundation of data management and reporting of e-commerce sales, CRM, marketing, and hospitality bookings. We are looking for a database expert to develop optimal data management solution designs for our estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain financial enterprise resource planning (ERP) and operational system databases according to best practices.
  • Manage data to support reporting functions through the use of MS SQL Server, My SQL, BigQuery, Power BI, Tableau, and similar tools.
  • Set up aggregated tables and views for data analysts and finance teams to build reports from.
  • Optimise performance and reliability of databases to provide fast query responses.
  • Manage database security and user permission setup.
  • Focus on increasing levels of automation and self-service of business users.
  • Maintain close collaboration with suppliers, IT teams, and data analysts to implement quality solutions.
  • Provide documentation, technical specifications and training where required.

  • Data reporting and visualisation: Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI and Google Looker Studio
  • CRM: Hubspot

What we're looking for: Core skills and experience

  • Expert-level understanding of relational databases, SQL and query optimisations
  • Expertise in database technologies and architecture
  • Strong analytical and data wrangling skills
  • Sound knowledge of data security
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and ability to work independently
  • Solution-oriented mindset
  • Adaptable to agile ways of working

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience working with Sage X3 or similar ERP systems
  • A degree or diploma in computer science or related technical field
  • At least five years' professional experience in a database engineering role

Salary Information:

We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per year, depending on experience.
