Job Description

The role of Industrialisation Specialist involves providing engineering and technical support to the operations team through development and improvement of technical standard operating procedures, technical development and support to staff, improving plant optimisation, and reducing costs and operations. The successful candidate will ensure that all products are manufactured with utmost efficiency and quality, according to planned protocols using appropriate technology.

  • We are seeking a skilled professional with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience in steel/metal products.
  • A background in an Automotive Production Environment is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have reasonable experience in Auto-CAD use, Pneumatics and Hydraulics technology (PLC), and strong working knowledge of Lean-Principles.
  • Good organisational and leadership skills are essential for this role.

Salary: R550,000 - R650,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead the overall plant and machine optimisation process.
  • To develop and maintain technical standards.
  • To provide technical training to staff.
  • To improve plant performance by reducing costs and operations.
  • To utilise Process Engineering tools to improve processes within the organisation.
  • To manage projects and schedules effectively.
  • To industrialise new machinery and equipment.
  • To implement process improvements based on Value Stream Mapping, Time Studies, Work Sampling, statistical methods, and root cause analysis.
  • To apply lean methodologies.
  • To achieve operational improvements based on feasibility studies, capacity planning, ergonomics, and best practices.
  • To design manufacturing processes and facility layouts.
  • To support relevant departments in achieving company goals.
  • To assist production with troubleshooting and problem-solving related to mechanical, quality, and process issues.
  • To prepare work instructions, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
  • To coordinate and track engineering changes.
  • To conduct training for new process/product introduction.
  • To lead operator training to improve skill levels.
  • To work with Maintenance to coordinate preventive and emergency maintenance.
  • To ensure safe working procedures are followed.
  • To ensure compliance with Management Systems requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, etc.).
  • To measure and report on objectives and targets.
  • To initiate and participate in corrective, preventive, and improvement projects.
  • To sign-off new equipment.
