Job Summary

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining hardware and software systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and maintain new hardware and software systems to provide new services or resolve user and system problems
  • Perform troubleshooting and system analysis to resolve incidents and ensure system availability
  • Perform system administration tasks, including configuration, systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and support
  • Test and validate new systems to ensure they meet the required functionality and quality
  • Implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure high availability
  • Implement and perform system monitoring for proactive support by collecting availability, performance metrics, and system logs
  • Perform hardware or software upgrades and patching to support vulnerability and risk management
  • Define, raise, and execute changes as part of the Change Management Process
  • Create system documentation and maintain fixes, modifications, or other changes
  • Execute tasks as part of the request fulfillment
  • Escalate and collaborate with vendors or other delivery organizations if needed to provide the right level of support
  • Identify and document potential system problems within the ticket tool
  • Identify and suggest possible service improvements
  • Create and manage tickets for Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Request Fulfillment
  • Document work results, actions taken, steps to resolve, effort, and resolution time in the ticketing system
  • Perform other tasks as defined, planned, and approved by the leadership team
  • Work with senior team members to get guidance on working procedures and technical possibilities to ensure the highest level of system availability

Requirements

  • Non-negotiable skillset and experience in Red Hat Linux administration
  • Between 3-5 years' experience working on Linux
  • Preferable to have exposure to ZVM Systems, Red Hat Linux, Satellite, VMware, Azure, AWS, and Chef
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology or related (or equivalent work experience)
  • Seasoned demonstrated experience in a similar role gained within a similar information technology environment
