The Talent Room is seeking an experienced Financial Expert to join their team in Paarl. Our client is a prominent winery in the region, and this role presents a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic company that values financial excellence.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Accountant with extensive experience in accounting principles and practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Bank Reconciliation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Petty Cash Book (Pastel and Excel): Manage cash flow, track expenses, and maintain a detailed record of all financial transactions.
  • Capturing Suppliers' invoices: Process and settle invoices from suppliers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Invoicing: Generate and send invoices to customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Correspondence with debtors: Communicate effectively with customers regarding outstanding payments and resolve any disputes.
  • Monitor creditor's payment terms: Ensure prompt payment of creditors and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Excise submission and stock handling: Comply with regulatory requirements for excise submissions and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Credit application: Assess creditworthiness of customers and make recommendations for credit limits.
  • Stock reconciliation: Verify stock levels and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monthly salaries: Process payroll, including salary payments and statutory deductions.
  • VAT: Manage VAT compliance, including registration, returns, and refunds.
  • Cash Flow: Analyze and manage cash flow to ensure smooth operations and minimize financial risk.
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including depreciation and asset disposal.
  • General Ledger: Prepare and present accurate general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • CIPC: Comply with Company and Intellectual Property Commission regulations.
  • Insurance: Manage insurance policies, including claims and renewals.
  • Petrol and Diesel Logs: Maintain accurate records of fuel consumption and costs.
  • Employment equity: Ensure compliance with employment equity legislation.
  • EMP501: Manage employee data, including benefits and leave entitlements.
  • Cost of sales: Analyze and optimize cost of sales to improve profitability.
  • Liquor licence: Ensure compliance with liquor licensing regulations.
  • Vehicle licences: Maintain accurate records of vehicle registrations and licenses.
  • EU Quota: Manage EU quota allocations and reporting requirements.
  • SAWIS submissions: Submit wine industry reports and returns as required.
  • Manufacturing: Oversee manufacturing processes, including quality control and cost optimization.
Requirements
  • Relevant Tertiary Degree: Possess a recognized degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Wine industry experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the wine industry, preferably in a similar role.
  • MS Excel: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with expertise in advanced functions and formulas.
  • Pastel: Experienced user of Pastel software, including financial management and accounting modules.
Estimated Salary: R600,000 - R800,000 per annum
