Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Negotiator to join our team at Old Mutual. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating and resolving claims in a fair and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and resolve claims in a fair and efficient manner
  • Analyze claims and confirm cover
  • Draft rejection letters if claims are rejected
  • Request and analyze policy files and related documentation
  • Appoint assessors if required
  • Capture and register claims
  • Settle claims within mandate
  • Recover third-party claims
  • Prepare payments files on successful recovery
  • Finalize claims in accordance with Old Mutual's standards

Accountability and Urgency:

The Claims Negotiator will be responsible for their own effectiveness and related results. This role operates in a highly pressurized and complex environment that demands extreme urgency in claims and task management.

Business Acumen:

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of main business drivers to impact decision-making and achieve results. They will also maintain awareness of organizational developments and politics, demonstrate financial awareness, and control costs while thinking in terms of profit, loss, and added value.

Teamwork:

The Claims Negotiator will work collaboratively with others to achieve team goals, share information, and support colleagues.

Claims Processing:

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of claims processes and systems, as well as technical expertise in vehicle damage. They will apply this knowledge to drive intended results, including service and costs.

Quality Driven:

The Claims Negotiator will maintain high standards of quality without compromising effectiveness, supporting business objectives, and delivering exceptional customer service and experience.

Customer Centricity:

The successful candidate will prioritize customer service and customer experience, as well as claims processes and other stakeholder needs. Customer service will be the foundation of all decisions.

Decision-Making and Problem-Solving:

The Claims Negotiator will have the ability to analyze complex challenges, derive effective solutions, and ensure claims service and process continuity. They will apply skills and expertise in decision-making to achieve results.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Matric
  • 4 years of short-term claims experience
  • Technical ability to effectively direct claims
  • Understanding of claims processes and service requirements
  • Appropriate insurance qualification/degree
