Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Load and Haul Operations Manager to oversee daily load and haul activities in a surface mining environment. The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, manage tools and trucks, handle contractor relations, control budgets, and ensure SHERQ compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Load and Haul Activities: Manage and supervise daily load and haul operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to industry best practices and company standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operators and support staff, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging adherence to safety protocols and operational excellence.
  • Contractor Relations: Maintain effective communication and relationships with contractors, ensuring contractual obligations are met and work is completed to required standards.
  • Budget Control: Monitor and control operational budgets, optimizing the use of tools, trucks, and other resources while adhering to financial parameters.
  • SHERQ Compliance: Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) standards, conducting regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and reporting on operational performance and compliance metrics.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of operational general surface mining experience, with a minimum of 1 year of operational operator experience in Load and Haul or Auxiliary equipment, and a minimum of 1 year of Supervisor/Team/Project Leader experience in a surface mining environment.
  • Qualifications: Grade 12, Blasting Certificate in Surface Mining/MQA equivalent qualification, Supervisory Certificate (NQF level 4, 150 Credits)/ARM equivalent, and Mine Overseer Certificate in Mining/National Diploma in Mining Engineering NQF 6 (recommended).
  • Skills and Competencies: Computer literacy (Intermediate user of MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, JDE), functional knowledge of Load and Haul, Drill and Blast processes and procedures, Grade control module, ability to understand Geoscan readings, adapting and responding to change, coping with pressure and setbacks, delivering results and meeting customer expectations, and planning and organizing.
Estimated Salary

R800,000 - R1,200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
