Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacist to join our team at Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Bloemfontein. As a key member of our pharmacy staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our store.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is R500,000 - R700,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients' medicine-related needs;
  • Evaluating patients' medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy;
  • Dispensing medicines or scheduled substances on prescription from authorized medical practitioners;
  • Furnishing information and advice to patients regarding the use of medicines;
  • Determining patient compliance with therapy and following up to ensure that their medicine-related needs are being met;
  • Provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy;
  • Compounding, manipulating, preparing, or packaging medicines or scheduled substances, or supervising these activities;
  • Purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storing, packaging, re-packaging, supplying, or selling medicines or scheduled substances, or supervising these activities;
  • Applying for the registration of medicines in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act;
  • Formulating medicines for the purposes of registration as medicines;
  • Distributing medicines or scheduled substances;
  • Re-packaging medicines;
  • Initiating and conducting pharmaceutical research and development;
  • Promoting public health;
  • Accurately interpreting scripts and acting in a professional and responsible manner within the legal requirements of the South African Pharmacy Council;
  • Capturing script details accurately and verifying patients' details on the system;
  • Ensuring accurate picking/packing/labeling and checking of medication and being aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactions;
  • Providing accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of supplied medicines;
  • Maintaining knowledge of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing;
  • Advising and assisting patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop;
  • FOLLOWING UP WITH PATIENTS REGARDING SCRIPT TRACKING REPORT AS REQUESTED BY THE DISPENSARY MANAGER AND FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENTS;
  • Explaining medical aid costs to patients;
  • Following through on promises made to customers;
  • Evaluating disease conditions and referring patients to in-store health facilities when necessary;
  • Processing all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids;
  • Correcting errors on scripts rejected by medical aids;
  • Ensuring authorization of chronic, HIV, and AIDS, and oncology medication;
  • Maintaining customer profiles on the system;
  • Merging profiles locally and Vexall should be notified to merge profiles centrally;
  • Taking note of any messages on the customer profile and taking suitable action;
  • Assisting the Dispensary Manager to ensure that all administration functions are carried out correctly and timeously;
  • Reporting on low-/out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the Dispensary Manager;
  • FACILITATING BI-ANNUAL STOCK TAKES;
  • Exercising stock, cash, and asset control;
  • Assisting the Dispensary Manager to ensure that all stock control processes and are adhered to and that all registers are kept up to date in accordance with legislation;
  • Maintaining housekeeping in accordance with Dis-Chem standards;
  • Adhering to Dis-Chem Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Adhering to Health and Safety rules and regulations;
  • Adhering to Dis-Chem Uniform and personal appearance policy;
