Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Theatre Technician to join our team at Joburg City Theatres.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a dynamic environment, assisting in the setup, operation, and maintenance of stage equipment for live events, productions, and installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in setting up and striking stage equipment (lighting, sound, rigging).
  • Operate stage equipment under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Maintain and perform basic repairs on stage equipment.
  • Collaborate with production teams to achieve desired technical outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in stage technical operations.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
  • Experience with stage management software.
  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Salary

R350,000 per annum, depending on experience.
