At Progressive International, we are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Director of Harbour Operations and Development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire harbour operations and development process.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 18-20 years' experience in managing harbour construction projects and operations, ideally in the mining sector. They should also possess certificates in port management to ensure they are well-equipped to handle the complex demands of harbour construction and operations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordination with Engineering Firms: Collaborate with external engineering firms to ensure designs meet project specifications and standards. Review and approve engineering plans and drawings.
  • Supervision of Construction: Oversee the construction process to ensure it adheres to the approved designs and quality standards. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues that arise during construction.
  • Commissioning of the Port: Manage the commissioning process, ensuring all systems and structures are operational and meet safety and performance criteria. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational status.
  • Operations Management Post-Commissioning: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the harbour once it is commissioned. Implement and monitor operational procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with company requirements.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all activities are completed within financial constraints. Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all phases of the project.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all construction and operational activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Director/CEO. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design changes, construction progress, and commissioning records.
About You
  • You have a strong track record of managing harbour construction projects and operations, with a minimum of 18-20 years of experience.
  • You possess certificates in port management, ensuring you are well-equipped to handle the complex demands of harbour construction and operations.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey intricate technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • You are proficient in French and English, enabling you to communicate effectively with international partners and stakeholders.
  • You have a transformational leadership style, inspiring and motivating your team to achieve exceptional results.
  • You are innovative and proactive, with the ability to devise creative solutions for complex challenges.
