Job Title: Plant Instrumentation Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Plant Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Anglo American. As a key member of our Engineering & Maintenance department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of automated control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain various instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and final control elements.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with instrumentation systems using diagnostic tools and techniques to pinpoint problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Calibration and Repair: Calibrate measurement devices to ensure accuracy and reliability, and perform repairs on malfunctioning instrumentation equipment.
  • Programming and Configuration: Program and configure control systems to achieve specific process control objectives.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of instrument calibrations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Grade 12 / N3 Technical, Higher National qualification in Instrumentation & Control / Instrument Mechanician (NQF5), and SA Drivers Licence.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control installations and maintenance within the mining industry, with expertise in problem-solving methodologies.

Working Conditions:

This role is based in Northern Cape and requires regular travel to remote sites. You will work closely with engineers, other technicians, and maintenance personnel to ensure the seamless integration of instrumentation systems into larger engineering projects.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is between R600,000 - R800,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
