Production Manager Job Description

At Black Pen Recruitment, we are looking for an ambitious Production Manager to join our dynamic team. Our client is a dynamic sports apparel brand based in Cape Town, that designs and manufactures premium cycling and running kit, both custom and retail.

As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for the production of high-quality prints on various materials, including stretch fabrics. You will be expected to assume a high degree of autonomy to interact directly with all facets of the business, including Branding, Marketing, Sales, Customers, Product Development, Design, Production, Accounts, and the company Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stretching mesh and making screens, including preparing positives and negatives.
  2. Exposing and developing screens to ensure they are ready for printing.
  3. Regularly maintaining and troubleshooting screen printing equipment to prevent any downtime.
  4. Operating screen printing equipment to produce high-quality prints on various materials.
  5. Mixing inks and performing color matching to meet the company's specific requirements.
  6. Setting up screen print runs, ensuring proper alignment, and minimizing errors to reduce material wastage.
  7. Operating a heat press to apply digital and vinyl transfers onto stretch fabrics.
  8. Utilizing knowledge of the dye sublimation process, and operating a dye sublimation press if needed.
  9. Ensuring that the dye sublimation and transfer processes result in high-quality prints with vibrant and accurate colors.
  10. Meeting tight production deadlines, including the willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  11. Prioritizing tasks to maintain production efficiency while ensuring high-quality output.
  12. Performing routine maintenance on all screen printing and heat press equipment.
  13. Managing inventory of inks, screens, and other materials to minimize wastage and ensure continuous production flow.
  14. Inspecting final prints for quality and accuracy, ensuring that all prints meet the company's standards before they are shipped out.
  15. Implementing quality control measures to identify and correct any issues in the production process.
