About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Human Resources Leader to join our team in Gauteng. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and directing the Performance Management function, formulating and monitoring strategic objectives and policies to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Strategic Plans: Ensure that appropriate planning and application of strategies, business plans, policies, and procedures are developed, approved, communicated to stakeholders, and implemented to meet departmental strategic imperatives.
  • Lead Performance Management Communication Strategies: Implement communication strategies aimed at creating awareness and keeping all stakeholders fully informed about performance management initiatives.
  • Direct Performance-Related Issues: Lead and direct performance management-related issues within the City of Johannesburg, ensuring effective resolution and implementation of solutions.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: Lead and direct staff within the Performance Management section/unit, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent performance and growth.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Legislative Framework: Monitor and promote SLA adherence with service providers and departments, manage legislative frameworks, and control finances in line with City policies and procedures.
  • Operational Assets and Resource Management: Efficiently manage operational assets and resources, adhering to legislative frameworks and City policies to optimize cost-effectiveness.
  • Reporting and Governance: Provide high-quality reports on functions and performance, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with reporting requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or a related field (NQF level 7);
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in Human Resources Management, with a focus on Performance Management, including 4 years at middle management level;
