Operations Manager Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team based in Gqeberha. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in warehouse and supply chain management, with a proven track record of leading teams and driving operational efficiency.

About the Role:
  • Formulate local operations strategies and manage a team of warehouse managers, ensuring seamless execution of processes and systems.
  • Closely interact with engineering and maintenance functions to provide spare parts and consumables on time, meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Support third-party supply chain teams to order and deliver materials timely and efficiently, aligning with SLA targets.
  • Guide client stakeholders through organisational transformational changes, embedding new supply chain solutions that enhance cost-effectiveness, service levels, and quality.
  • Identify opportunities within the client's supply chain operations to improve productivity, reduce costs, and drive business growth.
  • Regularly review key performance indicators and maintain the quality management system (ISO 9001), ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Determine opportunities for cost reduction and general improvement, establishing departmental goals and objectives in consultation with company directors and clients.
Requirements:
  • A 4-year degree or NQF level 7 qualification (e.g., BSc Engineering or BEng). A mechanical or industrial engineering background is preferable.
  • At least 15 years' experience in warehouse and supply chain/logistics/engineering/manufacturing/maintenance environments, with 10 years at senior management level.
  • Working knowledge of material handling activities, including receiving, binning, picking, checking, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Management of staff, understanding disciplinary/grievance processes, and labour relations in general.
  • Team dynamics, including knowledge of team member interactions and functional teams.
  • Maintenance and repair requirements, critical spares, processes, and programs in heavy manufacturing, as well as SHEQ programmes and principles.
Salary Information:

The estimated annual salary for this position is R850,000 - R950,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
