CORE PURPOSE OF JOB:

To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences by undergraduate pharmacy students in order for them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy. To conduct research, facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students. To contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Teaching, Assessment and Development: Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate BPharm courses, including supervision of undergraduate research topics, conducting and publishing research in Pharmacy, liaison with pharmaceutical industry partners, facilitation of work-integrated activities, and involvement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes.
  • Research and Community Engagement: Conduct research in pharmaceutical sciences, supervise undergraduate research projects, participate in community engagement programmes, and perform other administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Discipline/Department.

  • An in-depth knowledge in the theory of pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Experience in facilitating undergraduate learning and teaching, curriculum development, and learning material development in pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Potential to contribute to pharmacy profession/stakeholder liaison and networking.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge and implementation of blended learning methods.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy.

Registration: Registration as a pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Experience: One year's experience lecturing undergraduate pharmacy students in pharmaceutical sciences.

Added advantages: Potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge through relevant engagement/consulting activities, and a background in clinical pharmacy.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of approximately R600,000 - R800,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, including medical aid, retirement fund contributions, and leave.
