Electrical Engineer for Mining Project Commissioning

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with GCC experience to join our team during the commissioning phase of an international mining project in the Northern Cape.

Job Summary:

  • This is a fixed-term contract position with the potential for extension.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will oversee the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment for the project. Key duties include:

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that electrical designs and installations meet project specifications, industry standards, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems into the overall project design.
  • Manage and supervise electrical contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of electrical works.
  • Develop and maintain detailed electrical project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Address and resolve any electrical-related issues or challenges that arise during construction and commissioning.
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures for all electrical installations and systems.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with electrical work, ensuring that appropriate safety measures are in place.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits for electrical systems and installations.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A National Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related qualification.
  • Professional Registration will be preferred.
  • GCC (Mines and Works) will be preferred.
  • No less than 8 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Mining Safety Act.
