We are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Specialist to join our team at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. in Cape Town, South Africa.

About the Role:
  • This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in structuring deals in blended and climate finance for health.
  • The successful candidate will support preparatory work in South Africa to arrange financing at scale to electrify hundreds of health facilities and increase energy efficiency through innovative means.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to estimate capital expenditures (capex) and operating expenses (opex) for solar electrification of health facilities.
  2. Market Engagement: Collaborate with industry stakeholders, including solar developers, EPCs, O&M contractors, and equipment suppliers, to gather market data, pricing insights, and key trends that drive solar electrification projects.
  3. Data Analysis: Support data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform decisions for governments and private sector partners, ensuring that data-driven insights are incorporated into policy recommendations and project design.
  4. Energy Efficiency Projects: Support the roll-out of energy efficiency projects in the public sector.
  5. Climate & Health Infrastructure: Assist in public-private partnerships (PPPs) for climate & health infrastructure projects by conducting technical and financial analysis, managing early-stage market engagement activities, and supporting government partners throughout procurement processes.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related fields, with at least 4 years of professional experience in public or private sectors.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with extensive experience in Excel and PowerPoint, including presenting data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
  • An entrepreneurial and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to tackle complex projects independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and interact with confidence, humility, and respect with diverse partners, including government officials, private sector representatives, and NGOs.
Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is R550,000 - R650,000, depending on experience.
