Wine Steward

5* Hotel in Umhlanga is looking for a Wine Steward, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our wine cellar, providing exceptional wine service to guests, and educating staff about wine. Your role is crucial in enhancing the overall dining experience and ensuring guest satisfaction.

**Responsibilities**:
Wine Service and Tasting Events:

- Engaging wine tasting sessions for guests, showcasing different wine varieties and providing educational insights.
- Provide personalised wine recommendations to at least 80% of guests.
- Tailor wine suggestions based on guests’ preferences, food choices, and occasion.
- Offer interactive sessions on wine basics, tasting techniques, and food pairing.

Guest Feedback:

- Actively seek feedback, address concerns, and continuously improve the wine service.
- Provide exceptional wine recommendations, pour wines following tasting procedures, and ensure guests have a memorable wine experience.

Wine Cellar Management:

- Maintain an accurate inventory of wine stock.
- Ensure proper cleaning, dusting, and maintenance of the wine cellar environment.
- Regularly update the wine inventory, track stock levels, and ensure proper storage conditions.

Sales and Revenue:

- Achieve monthly wine sales targets.
- Promote wine sales, suggest wine pairings, and upsell wine-related experiences.

Staff Training:

- Conduct quarterly wine training sessions for restaurant staff.
- Educate staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and wine-related terminology.

POS Transactions:

- Process POS transactions accurately.

**Requirements**:

- Proficiency in English.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Wine Steward or Bartender, with a strong knowledge of wines and wine service.
- Proven track record in maintaining service standards, and achieving guest satisfaction results.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with an emphasis on attention to detail.
- Experience with Micros point-of-sale equipment (preferred).
- Ability to up-sell, describe and recommend beverage products.
