**VACANCY: Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Co-Lead**

The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSFSA), a non-profit organization, is seeking to appoint a Senior Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment (HP&HRA) Co-Lead, to be based in Cape Town. The applicant must be able to fulfill the primary goal of the Health Promotion Programme, which is to prevent cardiovascular disease and the associated risk factors. Various programmes and sub-programmes are implemented to achieve the mission and vision of the Foundation. This includes health risk assessments (screenings) in a variety of mostly underserved settings; health education talks and health campaigns. The successful applicant will report directly to the current HP & HRA Team Lead on programmatic and clinical workstreams. Moreover, the HP & HRA Co-Lead will report directly to the CEO on all relevant workstreams and operations associated with the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces. He/she will also be required to attend Team Leaders Meetings. It is also expected that the appointee will be solely responsible and lead selected aspects of the HP&HRA Programme and will, consequently, attend management meetings.
- A clinical degree, diploma or certified qualification in nursing, emergency services and/or related fields. Preference will be given to applicants with a nursing qualification from an accredited organization and someone wo has worked at the level of a nursing sister with management experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health-related field in a management or Senior position (The fields may include clinical nursing, patient counselling, nursing education, emergency services and health administration).
- Experience in managing staff in your team in person and virtually.
- Exposure and experience in a non-profit environment.
- Experience in data collection using digital technology for research-related activities will be an advantage.
- Ability to collate material and write high level reports and pay attention to detail.
- Good and effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Xhosa is essential. Knowing another South African language will be an advantage.
- Must be computer literate (including, Word, Excel and Google Drive).
- Ability to Work independently and in a team and have a strong work ethic.
- Have a South African driver’s license for a manual vehicle.
- Own transport will be an advantage, although not compulsory).
- Must be a South African or a Permanent Resident with a work permit.
- Community based experience is essential.
- Must be comfortable to work in the private and public sectors.
- Must be able to assist in generating revenue for the Foundation and facilitate the sustainability of the organization.
- Be skilled in public speaking, science communication, public engagement and have a good and professional media presence.
- Assisting in managing the Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Programme at a National Level and creating evidence-based programmes to drive the outreach programmes.
- Assisting in managing the HP&HRA Programmes relevant staff performance appraisals.
- Managing the offices in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape Provinces and ensuring national reach.
- Community-based health promoting activities through health risk-assessments (screening), health education talks, participating in community-based events and capacity building.
- Seeking funding and driving private sector work would be an advantage.
- Digital Data collection for key health indicators.
- Develop partnerships with key people, communities and organizations, including the private sector, who can influence population-level outcomes.
- Be aligned with the relevant Provincial Departments of Health, and the National Department of Health.
- Implement activities based on the strategic plan and pillars of the HSFSA.
- Written and verbal communication with the public, media and partners.
- To conduct Key Performance Appraisals (KPA’s) for relevant staff.
- To manage and actively guide the Mended Heart and Stroke Group Meetings and programmes; School’s Health Promotion Initiative and other key programmes.
- To identify and develop partnerships with stakeholders to source opportunities to meet the health promotion objectives.
- Work across the various programmes at the Foundation and liaise with all Team Leaders and staff.
- Report writing.
- Ordering and Management of consumables, equipment and print material, nationally.
- To ensure Health Promotion staff conduct health risk assessments in line with the

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Make budget recommendations and manage the programme in a cost-effective manner.
- Collate and submit information for the Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Programme for the Annual Report.
- To assist in submitting Team Reports, Board Reports and other ad-hoc reports timeously.
- Well networked with local and provincial health departments and sectors.
