Job Purpose To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include: teach according to a set syllabus; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning and develop service-learning activities. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience Master’s Degree in Product Design At least two years’ relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education Working knowledge of Solidworks and Rhino software (subject to a competency test) At least two years industry experience in Product and Industrial Design Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Lecture subjects within the field of Product Design and Jewellery Design Drawing and Software Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department Participate in research Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co‑operative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects Assist with marketing and recruitment activities Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department Good organizing & planning skills Administrative Skills Technical/Professional knowledge Interpersonal Skills Strong learner focus Coaching Skills High level presentation skills In‑depth knowledge of the design process In‑depth knowledge of jewellery manufacturing processes, manual and digital Closing Date 02 November **** General Information We are a university in Cape Town, South Africa and the only university of technology in the Western Cape province.
