Introduction The purpose of the role is to ensure that the project-related assets and costs are recorded in a manner that ensures accuracy, validity, and completeness. It has to be performed in a timely manner in accordance with accounting best practices and JSE policies. Responsibilities: Communicate financial performance to program managers and project executives. Review and identify cost-reduction opportunities to reduce JSE business costs impacting business strategy. Manage the financial aspects of specific projects, ensuring budgets are adhered to, costs are accurately tracked, and financial reports are prepared, while providing financial advice to the project team. Maintain and develop relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders by sharing information and providing customer service to ensure queries are addressed promptly. Build relationships with colleagues, peers, and staff by using appropriate interpersonal styles. Interact with others in a way that promotes openness and trust, giving confidence in one’s intentions. Be the primary contact for managing and coordinating queries and resolving concerns of external and internal auditors regarding the JSE Group. Provide business partnering and support to teams, including technical finance assistance and participation in monthly meetings. Ensure accuracy and disclosures in statutory reporting to prevent material audit findings that could impact the JSE’s business strategy, in line with standards and regulations. Provide regular analysis of reports to internal stakeholders, communicating effectively to meet their requirements. Implement financial process system controls through the development of financial targets and automation to minimize financial risks. Adhere to accounting policies and procedures across all responsibilities by maintaining documented systems. Perform back-office functions, support, and reconciliations. Provide absence cover within the finance team to ensure service continuity. Analyze actual data within accounting records to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and validity of financial statements. Support the Financial Manager in responding promptly to queries during project and statutory audits. Assist Project Office in preparing project financials aligned with the approved project budget and progress. Ensure accruals and vendor invoices are communicated at month-end to relevant financial accountants for processing. Review and post monthly accruals, journal reallocations, and reconciliations. Sign off balance sheet reconciliations for work in progress, clearing accounts, and capitalized projects. Manage own delivery against agreed timelines, identify obstacles, and take appropriate actions. Contribute to the formalization of the Finance Department’s divisional budget, assisting in coordination and consolidation. Ensure the accuracy of SOPs and RACMs for audit review. Meet month-end reporting deadlines. The JSE requires the following qualifications and experience: 3-5 years in a contract management function or similar responsibilities with a good understanding of the processes.
