These jobs were popular with other job seekers Duration: 12-month contract with possible renewal Location: Johannesburg (Hyrid environment) We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer with expertise in API management, Kubernetes, and Datapower to join our team on a 12-month contract basis, with potential for renewal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable platform solutions, ensuring high availability and performance for our organization's infrastructure. Duties & Responsibilities Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters to support containerized applications and microservices. Develop and implement API management solutions using industry-standard tools and frameworks. Configure and manage Datapower appliances to secure and optimize API traffic. Collaborate with development and operations teams to automate deployment processes and ensure smooth operations. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal platform reliability and availability. Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices in all aspects of platform engineering. Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal reference and knowledge sharing. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends related to platform engineering, Kubernetes, API management, and Datapower. Desired Experience & Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, with a focus on API management, Kubernetes, and Datapower. Strong proficiency in Kubernetes administration, including cluster setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, or MuleSoft. Familiarity with IBM Datapower appliances and their configuration for API security and optimization. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
