Job Summary Provide comprehensive legal support to the Middle East & Africa world area with a regional focus on English-Speaking Africa, initially requiring some mentorship and direction with reduced levels of supervision as experience grows Roles and Responsibilities Provides advice to the relevant business unit(s) on a broad spectrum of legal issues, with some supervision, including : Acting as liaison between business management and other practice groups within the Emerson Legal Function as well as outside counsel Performing or supervising audits, self-assessments, and investigations Reviewing, advising on and negotiating various commercial agreements including but not limited to corporate supplier agreements, sales contracts and non-disclosure agreements Research and advise on the applicable regulatory framework and local content requirements to support business expansion in the region Works harmoniously with Emerson Law Department colleagues and outside counsel on routine legal matters to ensure compliance with Emerson policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements Keeps business unit(s) management and Law Department management fully advised of all significant developments concerning all material matters in a timely fashion Exercises good professional judgment, acts with integrity, and gets results at all times to protect and improvement image and reputation of Emerson and the Law Department Supports the Legal team in : Handling inquiries from various parties or regulatory bodies, including in relation to investigations, subpoenas and auditsStaying up to date on legal and regulatory developments relating to Emerson’s compliance program and communicating relevant developments as appropriate to the businessImplementing corporate policies throughout all applicable divisionsStrategic projects in different areas ( implementation of various legislation, applicable new directives and regulations)Performing due diligence and ensuring compliance with anti-corruption lawsLeads the post-acquisition legal integration process of newly acquired companies with regard to all applicable legal areas;Participates in and proactively contributes to direction of various central initiatives of the Legal team, and with other tasks as assigned. You use knowledge of business drivers and how strategies and tactics play out in the market to guide actions. You continuously seek and provide Business insights For this role you will need : years of relevant work experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or private practice) Law Degree from an accredited law school Comfortable working with senior management Preferred qualifications set you apart : Intermediate MS Office skills Excellent oral and written English.
