ARTISAN: ELECTRICIAN Kouga Local Municipality is committed to the prescripts of the approved Employment Equity Plan and furthermore invites suitably qualified applicants to submit a detailed application for the following position. REQUIREMENTS: Relevant NQF level 4 qualification and a Trade Tested certificate as an Electrician; 3 years relevant experience; Good supervisory skills; Ability to record information accurately; Good Report writing skills; Must be assertive and have attention to detail; Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa). SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Required to work in all weather conditions. Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime. Required to do stand‑by duties. SALARY: R – R Per Annum TASK: 11 DUTIES: Setting out of cable route, supervision of worker and physical doing L.V. single phase and three phase domestic connection, which includes the installation of electrical meter etc; Supervise and assist with the laying of electrical cables during upgrading works. Carrying out of routine electrical maintenance on distribution kiosk, substation, overhead lines, water and sewerage pump station as well as the upkeep of sub‑station yard and Council buildings i.e. repair broken lights etc; Oversee subordinate staff; Preparing work schedules for minor maintenance work that can be executed by sub‑ordinate staff; Providing guidance to staff on work performed; Perform HT maintenance and repairs under supervision; Perform HV/MV switching if found to be competent during faulting finding or under normal maintenance conditions.
