Post Details Post Title: Bairnshoose Health and Wellbeing Lead Employment: Full‑time 37 hours per week (can be negotiable) Salary Scale: Band 7 £50,861 – £59,159 p.a. Fixed Term until 01/04/2026 (may have a further year of funding); funding is agreed until March 2026 with the possibility of further funding until March 2027. Role Overview An exciting opportunity (fixed term or secondment) has arisen for a health professional to support the development of the Bairnshoose service within Highland. Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team you will assess and co‑ordinate the health needs of children and young people who access the Bairnshoose. You will help to develop clinical pathways into other services required by children and young people, to aid their recovery from the negative impacts of experiencing or witnessing harm or violence. Under Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) children have the right to the best possible health. Using a rights‑based, trauma‑informed approach you will identify and understand the support needs of the child and their wider family. You will map out service requirements to meet the needs of children and young people and identify any gaps in provision, reporting them to the Bairnshoose strategic oversight board. You will work to the Bairnshoose national standards. Qualifications Registered health professional (Nurse/Midwife/AHP) with significant previous experience of child protection and its processes. Degree in a relevant subject. Willingness to undertake the PG Cert in Child Welfare and Protection at Masters level if further funding is secured. Bairnshoose Vision Bairns’ Hoose is a transformational, whole‑system approach that aims to deliver child‑focused services, supporting the recovery of children and their families from trauma and harm. The overall vision is that all children in Scotland who have been victims or witnesses of abuse or violence which has caused or is likely to cause significant harm will have access to trauma‑informed recovery, support and justice. Bairns’ Hoose will also ensure that any child under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour may have caused serious harm or abuse will have access to trauma‑informed, needs‑focused support and recovery.
