Travel Specialist

The Travel Specialist will handle booking enquiries in an efficient and professional manner, serving as one of the frontline individuals for our international travel partners. Key Focus Areas Reservations & Communications Develop and manage agent relationships by providing excellent customer service and supplying detailed, high-quality itineraries, including MFC properties and preferred partner inclusions where appropriate. Handle third‑party bookings including flights, airport services, transfers, and guest experiences. Create and manage the booking process in all systems including ResRequest, Tourplan, and Safari Portal. Follow up on quotes and maintain regular communication with agents. Monitor and record reasons for unconverted quotes and releases. Track booking sales and achieve sales targets both quarterly and annually. Report booking margin and account for it. Quality‑assure tailor‑made itineraries. Facilitate payments for incoming payments and supplier payments. Assist with post‑sale administration. Maintain database in compliance with the POPIA act. Resolve any agent or guest complaints in a timely manner. Perform any other ad hoc tasks required by the manager. Represent the MC brand, living the MFC Purpose & Values. Growth and Learning Attend in‑house destination and product training to remain at the forefront of unbiased and expert advice. Travel locally and regionally when required. Provide detailed travel feedback to the team to promote knowledge sharing. Requirements Matric; tertiary qualification in Travel and Tourism. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a travel specialist/consultant dealing with agents. Proven travel sales ability with a strong focus on customer service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional and courteous demeanor when dealing with agents. Above‑average computer literacy; experience with ResRequest, Tourplan, or Safari Portal. Experience selling Southern Africa destinations; experience with East Africa is a bonus. Ability to work under pressure. Willingness to work after hours and weekends when required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
