Food Technologist Vacancy Position: 3-month contractSeniority Level: Mid-Career (3 - 6 yrs exp)Region: GautengLocation: Randfontein- Western SuburbsSectors: FMCGDuties and Responsibilities Purpose of the Role Maintenance of GMP and Food safety management systems in production plants in accordance with System and retailer requirements. Key Responsibilities and Duties Control of Food safety records submitted by factories- Verification, signing & filing, including ordering of record forms/books. Participate actively in production and manage the Implementation of Procedures (PRP's) on the floor. Updating of records and Procedures as required and submit change request to the Snr QAT. Accompany regulatory inspectors & Participate in external audits as required. Compile monthly Food Safety meeting minutes. Assist in food safety and quality related nonconformance/customer complaints investigations and feedback to the Senior QAT. Monitoring the Supplier's Quality assurance. Conduct monthly GMP internal audits as per schedule. Conduct traceability studies. Ensure that the practices of the plants are in line with the Documented FSMS requirements. Ensure that all water supplies, products, drains, air, equipments & hands are adequately tested as scheduled. Ensure non-conforming material are recorded, documented, disposed off in an appropriate manner and analysed to identify and prevent recurring problems. Ensure that on-line cleaning and sanitation is effective and correct steps are followed when cleaning is undertaken in the plants. Knowledge/Experience and Education National Diploma in Food Technology or equivalent qualification Internal Auditing Certificate Experience in various processes with specific reference to good manufacturing practices, HACCP and FSSC/ISO 22000. Working knowledge on MS Office - Access. Competencies Required Good interpersonal and communication skills Must be multilingual Must be an assertive self-starter who can work independently and within a team Attention to details and accuracy. Decision Making Medium level of decision making with regards to Food Safety compliance, Safety standards, Regulatory compliance.Problem Solving Medium level of problem-solving responsibility with regards to Food Safety compliance issues on all manufacturing facilities.Leadership/Supervision No direct reports but responsible for ensuring Food Safety compliance, training and adherence to all Food Safety Management System.
