Plant Quality Engineer & Metrologist at Faurecia South Africa Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leader – We pioneer technology for mobility experience that matters to people. The Plant Quality Engineer / Metrologist is responsible for implementing process control programs that assure production of finished goods that meet or exceed customer‑specified requirements. He/she leads continuous improvements using the appropriate quality tools, provides data analysis, and participates in problem solving. The role also develops the metrology laboratory into a superior measuring facility and gauge control facility. Your Mission, Roles and Responsibilities Conduct multiple projects simultaneously from feasibility to post‑launch quality assessment throughout production life. Facilitate FMEA with engineering and advanced quality‑planning activities, monitoring status throughout production life. Review the Control Plan with Engineering and Production, monitoring status throughout production life. Develop, implement, and maintain Statistical Process Control techniques. Assure compliance of documented quality systems (IATF16949/VDA6.3) and promote consistency. Conduct investigations to determine causes of defects, recommend corrective actions. Maintain internal customer complaint log and facilitate the QRCI process. Instruct and train personnel in techniques and use of audit and testing devices. Monitor and revise quality documentation as required. Visit customers and suppliers when necessary; act as liaison to internal customers. Review all production methods for compliance and improvement of product and quality standards. Perform 8QB and CIO audits and monitor corrective action implementation. Contain parts within the plant when customer rejection or dock audit rejections occur. Manage the Gauge R&R schedule and perform studies as per schedule. Perform final inspection validation as per schedule. Draw up inspection instructions for TQW and final inspection, revise when applicable. Maintain FES principles. Perform responsibilities in accordance with IATF16949/VDA 6.3 system requirements. Perform measurements for purchase parts, PPAP parts, 1st piece, process stability, sampling inspections, product audits, QRCI problem solving. Review gauge requirements in plants and advise on changes. For 3D measurements respect national & international standards. Manage calibration and R&R for all measuring equipment (planning, execution, documentation). Ensure proper use of SPC in production per the control plan. Escalate non‑conforming products to the Senior Metrologist for further decision. Maintain customer‑specific requirements and audits. Develop the metrology laboratory into a superior measuring facility and gauge control facility with related filing systems, instructions, visual aids, etc. Your profile and competencies to succeed Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering. Strong analytical and proven team‑oriented problem‑solving skills. 3+ years relevant experience in manufacturing. Strong customer satisfaction orientation. In‑depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques. Excellent knowledge and understanding of customer‑specific requirements. Knowledge of metrology processes with at least 2 years experience.
