Job Description Are you an accomplished legal and tax leader ready to drive excellence across complex advisory, dispute and compliance functions? A recruitment partner is seeking a highly skilled, results-driven Business Area Lead : Legal & Specialised Tax Support to join a prominent public sector organisation. This pivotal position reports to the Business Area Head : Technical Enablement within the Taxpayer Engagement division and is based at Woodmead North Office Park. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction to legal delivery, alternative dispute resolution and tax advisory teams, ensuring effective performance, strengthened governance and enhanced service delivery. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong business acumen, sound judgement and a proven track record of leading specialised teams within a tax, legal or dispute-related environment. Key Duties Provide leadership and direction across legal, tax advisory and alternative dispute resolution functions Develop tactical strategies and delivery plans aligned with organisational objectives Manage operational activities, ensuring targets are met within set quality, productivity and turnaround standards Oversee resource allocation, budgeting and financial controls to support functional goals Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of policies, practices and procedural frameworks Identify opportunities to optimise systems, processes and service delivery Embed strong governance, risk management and compliance practices Produce periodic performance reports and adjust tactical plans as required Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement and excellence Lead people development initiatives and implement capacity-building plans Requirements Honours / Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Law, Accounting or Tax with 10–12 years’ relevant Tax / Legal / Dispute-environment experience, including 3–4 years at management level Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Law, Accounting or Tax with 12–15 years’ relevant experience, including 3–4 years at management level Extensive knowledge of tax legislation, legal interpretation, specialised tax processes and dispute resolution Strong strategic planning, problem-solving and business acumen Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary professional teams Proven competence in governance, compliance, budgeting and operational management Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and service-excellence capabilities High levels of integrity, accountability and ethical conduct EE Disclaimer All positions will be filled in accordance with the company's Employment Equity plan.
