Mid-Level Interior Designer | Permanent, On-Site in Cape Town I need to be honest with you, we have posted job adverts before. We've interviewed dozens of candidates who looked great on paper. And we've learned that qualifications and experience do not always tell us what we really need to know. Because at Xperiencemakers, we're not just designing beautiful spaces - we're pioneering neurodesign principles that actively support human nervous systems and well-being. That requires a fundamentally different mindset. What we're really looking for: Someone who genuinely understands that "how you do anything is how you do everything." We need a mid-level designer with 5–7 years' solid experience who doesn't just tick boxes - someone who communicates clearly without being chased, who takes ownership of their work, and who sees spatial planning as problem-solving, not just drawing lines. Someone who doesn't need to be taught the fundamentals of professional practice: responding to emails promptly, thinking ahead, asking the right questions before problems arise, and balancing creativity with commercial reality. What you'll actually be doing: Developing Revit models, technical drawings, and elevations with precision and care Managing FF&E sourcing, specifications, and procurement processes Co-ordinating with suppliers, contractors, and craftspeople Supporting site co-ordination and ensuring projects stay on track and on budget Contributing to presentations, mood boards, and client-facing materials Working within existing systems whilst helping refine and improve them What we value (beyond the CV): Clear, proactive communication—not defensiveness when given feedback Strong attention to detail and genuine pride in your work Ability to multi-task without losing quality or focus A collaborative spirit and willingness to learn and grow Energy, professionalism, and a sense of humour (we're a small, dynamic team) Degree in interior design or equivalent Minimum 5 years' commercial & residential design experience Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, PowerPoint and/or Canva, and Microsoft Office Experience with budgets, quotes, purchase orders, and project co-ordination Valid driver's licence, insured vehicle, and based in Cape Town Traceable references from the interior design industry What we offer: Permanent, full-time position based at our Cape Town studio The opportunity to work on high-end residential and hospitality projects A culture that values integrity, sustainability, and human-centred design Professional development within a growing, purpose-driven practice Salary dependent on experience If you're someone who genuinely cares about craft, clarity, and creating spaces that support people, not just someone looking for any job; we would love to hear from you.
