Introduction A leading organization in Cape Town is seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Accountant to join their Finance team. Role Overview The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day financial transactions, supporting the month‑end and year‑end close processes, and maintaining comprehensive financial records. This position requires a detail‑oriented professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. Duties & Responsibilities Manage financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. Perform monthly and yearly financial close activities and reconciliations. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Review supplier reconciliations and payments prior to release. Process foreign exchange payments via the company's bank accounts. Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. Assist with audits and other financial assessments as required. Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases to monitor and compile financial information. Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., VAT, EMP). Support cash flow management and related reporting. Undertake general administrative duties associated with the position. Ensure all deadlines set by management are met. Desired Experience & Qualification Professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA). Minimum 3 years' experience as a Financial Accountant. Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel (Pivots, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, etc.). Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (Syspro preferred). Strong interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills. Excellent time management and ability to work independently. Attention to detail and accuracy with a proactive approach to tasks.
