Qualified Diesel Mechanic An exciting opportunity exists for a Qualified Diesel Mechanic who has the attributes to lead and manage a maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Mechanical Maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities Regular inspections on equipment to identify hazards, defects or need for repair. Complete equipment check sheets as per manufacturer's requirements. Capacity to take initiative on all projects. Complete projects in the expected time frame. Making schedules, assigning work, and training employees. Motivate employees to increase their productivity and meet work goals. Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes, and adherence to safety regulations. Responsible for mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services as required. Design mechanical systems and equipment, as well as contribute to improved designs and manufacturing processes. Report any incidents to the maintenance manager. Attend to breakdowns. Ensure adequate inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document purchases. Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools in a factory environment. Grade 12. 3-5 years’ experience working as a qualified artisan. Management/Supervisory experience. Valid Driver’s Licence. Own transport. Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and related universal best practices. Knowledge of legislative and industry protocols and regulations that apply in maintenance.
