Duties / Pligte Preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS appropriate legislation and practices. Preparing monthly / annual financial statements and expenditure analyses for the specific environment. Preparing or reviewing financial reports for external funders. Providing financial advice to the University and related entities. Advising about VAT requirements and the completion and submission of monthly VAT and other sundry returns. Dealing with VAT verification and audit requests from SARS and liaising with external tax advisors. Representing the Finance Division in other divisions and faculties. Approving staff and student reimbursements advances and applying the relevant financial policies. Approval and posting of applicable journals. Dealing with telephonic walk‑in and email enquiries about financial procedures and systems. Managing overspent cost centres. Responsible for various year‑end procedures. Liaising with the external auditors and internal departments about determining audit timelines and dealing with audit queries and documentation requests. Responsible for allocated control accounts and cost centres including related administration and reconciliation. Opstel van finansiele state wat voldoen aan IFRS toepaslike wetgewing en praktyke. Die goedkeuring van terugbetalings aan personeel en studente voorskotte en die toepassing van die tersaaklike finansiel beleide. Die goedkeuring en postering van toepaslike joernale. Hantering van telefoniese instap‑ en e‑posnavrae oor finansiel prosedures en -stelsels. Bestuur van oorgespandeerde kostepunte. Verantwoordelik vir verskeie jaareindprosedures. Skakeling met die eksterne ouditeure en afdelings ten opsigte van die bepaling van tydslyne vir oudits en die hantering van navrae en dokumentasieversoeke. Verantwoordelik vir geallokeerde kontrolerekeninge en kostepunte met inbegrip van die administrasie en rekonsiliasie daarvan. Job Requirements / Pos Vereistes Honnours BCom or similar qualification with accounting as a major. Completed articles with an auditing firm. At least two years relevant work experience in a similar environment with experience in the preparation of financial statements and application of VAT. A substantial accounting and financial background. Proven ability to give guidance to colleagues at senior level. The ability to respect and maintain confidentiality. Excellent computer proficiency with advanced experience in Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills and exceptional judgement. Sound organisational and planning skills.The ability to perform effectively under pressure. Honneurs BComm-graad (of soortgelyke kwalifikasie) met rekeningkunde as hoofvak. Voltooide klerkskap by n ouditeursfirma. Bewese toepaslike werkservaring in n soortgelyke omgewing met ervaring in die opstel van finansielle state en toepassing van BTW. n Sterk rekeningkundige en finansiele agtergrond. Die bewese vermo om op senior vlak leiding aan kollegas te gee. Die vermo om vertroulikheid te respekteer en handhaaf. Uitstekende rekenaarvaardighede met gevorderde ervaring in Excel. Goeie skriftelike en mondelinge kommunikasievaardighede. Uitstekende vaardigheid ten opsigte van oordeel besluitneming en probleemoplossing. Sterk organiserings- en beplanningsvaardighede.
