Assistant Energy Engineer Bellville

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Energy industry for an Assistant Energy Engineer. The position is based in Bellville. The Assistant Energy Engineer will play an important role in supporting clients to manage and reduce their energy consumption and work towards their sustainability goals. You will utilize engineering principles and specialized technical knowledge to assess energy usage, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop innovative strategies to optimize clients’ energy usage, reduce costs, and contribute to their sustainability management targets. Duties & Responsibilities Monitor and analyze energy usage data to track performance, identify trends, and validate the effectiveness of energy-saving measures for clients. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for clients, highlighting energy performance, cost savings, and environmental impacts. Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient technologies, equipment upgrades, and renewable energy solutions. Conduct energy audits and assessments of facilities to identify areas for improvement and prioritize energy-saving initiatives. Perform energy modelling and analyses to evaluate the potential energy- and cost savings of identified opportunities. Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of energy projects, considering factors such as payback period, return on investment (ROI), and life cycle cost analysis. Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients, including management, operations, and maintenance staff, on energy conservation strategies and sustainable practices. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors and facilities managers, to develop and integrate energy management opportunities into clients’ operations and facilities. Stay informed on industry developments, emerging technologies, incentives, and best practices in energy management, sustainability, and renewable energy. Assist in developing and delivering internal and external training programs to educate stakeholders on energy conservation best practices and promote a culture of sustainability. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients and service providers. Occasional traveling and on-site work required at clients’ facilities (South Africa based) as required per project. Desired Experience & Qualification Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial preferred), sustainability, or a related field. Experience in facility management, energy auditing, energy management, sustainability, or a related field, with 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Training or certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or other similar credentials preferable but not compulsory. Knowledge of energy management principles, techniques, and best practices, such as energy auditing, load profile analysis, and performance optimization. Good understanding of energy systems, renewable energy, and energy end-uses such as HVAC, lighting, and industrial processes. Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and incentives related to energy efficiency and sustainability. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in energy management software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
