Data Controller

OpenAgri (Pty) Ltd is a development house with offices in Stellenbosch and Johannesburg. We focus on building innovative agricultural technologies for our base client, the London-based software company AgrigateOne, which optimises the agricultural value chain through a B2B commerce platform that connects buyers, growers, and buyers with high quality fresh produce while aggregating all data and communications onto a single platform. Role Overview In this role you will introduce yourself to the AgrigateOne ecosystem by working closely with the operations, data, and product development teams. You will engage with our clients (growers and buyers) to understand their pain points and help entrench the platform in their business processes. This position lays the foundation for a potential future role in the data team as a data analyst or in core operations as a process‑improvement analyst. Key Responsibilities Data entry, management of & solution specification, specifically: Order loading for various buyers on the platform. Pack Planning and Yield Estimations Reconciliation between loaded and processed orders to ensure data accuracy and timeliness. Onboarding of New Clients Understand internal and external business processes to identify improvement opportunities. Develop an understanding of how the AgrigateOne platform works. Work closely with growers and buyers to understand their systems and business processes. Provide feedback to developers based on customer systems and requirements. Translate business processes into data flows that inform strategic initiatives for platform users. Develop an understanding of the data acquisition process in both front‑end and back‑end (ETL) of the platform. Determine root causes of data processing errors and set up configurations to resolve them. Identify missing and problematic data integration points and implement solutions. Provide assistance, when required, to the business development team. Understand the impact of external factors on market behaviour (e.g., pricing) to advise our clients. Formal Qualifications Preferably a degree in Industrial Engineering; Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration (BBA), BCom, or Agricultural Economics degrees will also be considered. Driver's licence (some travelling required). Knowledge, Skills & Experience Advanced computer literacy, especially Excel. Proven ability to be part of a team and collaborate across departments. Excellent problem‑solving and organisational ability. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence credibly at all levels. Ability to work under pressure. Proven verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong internal client relationship building. Excellent attention to detail. Job Related Experience Not necessary. Beneficial 1–2 years' experience in a logistics provider, perishable commodity agent / retailer, or commercial farming company in a planning, operational, logistics, or solutions role. Experience in managing client / supplier relationships. Experience in analysing operational processes and / or logistics operations. Languages English. Afrikaans (beneficial).
