Electrical Supervisor

We are looking for an electrical supervisor to join our dynamic team at MC Design & Contracting. The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising all electrical activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring work is delivered safely, within scope, on time, and to the required quality standards. This includes planning and prioritising workloads, overseeing electrical manufacturing, installations, commissioning, and handover, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, client specifications, ISO standards, and company procedures. The role requires effective resource allocation, technical problem‑solving, cost control, and the ability to maintain strong customer relationships while driving continuous improvement across all electrical operations. Main Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage detailed project schedules, labour plans, and resource allocations. Ensure project targets, milestones, and budgets are consistently achieved. Coordinate electrical work activities across the plant or client site, ensuring alignment with other departments and contractors. Manage multiple electrical projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks based on urgency and operational impact. Liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction, resolve concerns, and provide progress updates. Procure raw materials, components, tooling, and consumables required for manufacturing and installation activities. Monitor and control labour hours, overtime, and productivity to avoid scope creep and cost overruns. Establish, track, and maintain delivery schedules for manufactured equipment and site installations. Supervise and provide technical guidance to electrical manufacturing, installation, and commissioning teams. Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, and standards. Maintain a high focus on health, safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance at all times. Perform mechanical tasks and/or support mechanical teams as required during project execution. Ensure all activities comply with relevant ISO standards and documentation controls. Provide progress reports and feedback to the Electrical Contracts Manager as required. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement corrective actions. Mentor junior employees and contribute to skills development within the department. Minimum Qualifications Matric (Grade 12) or National Technical Certificate (N3). Relevant electrical trade qualification (Trade Test). Valid Wireman’s License (Installation Electrician or Master Electrician). Proven experience in Industrial Contracting is essential. Previous experience within the automotive industry, industrial automation environment, or manufacturing is highly desirable. Valid Code 08 driver’s license. Own reliable transportation. Willingness to travel and work away from home for extended periods when required. Required Skills and Knowledge Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 3–5 years proven supervisory or team leadership experience in an electrical manufacturing or installation environment. Ability to interpret electrical schematics, quality control plans, and E‑Plan designs. Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and safe working practices. Knowledge of cable routing, panel wiring, commissioning procedures, and instrumentation will be advantageous. Familiarity with fault‑finding, testing, and verification techniques.
