About The Job The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment by implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety standards, procedures, and systems across all operational areas within the Order Fulfilment Department. This role promotes a proactive safety culture, ensures adherence to legal and company requirements including ISO 45001 and the OHS Act, and supports incident prevention through risk identification, training, and corrective action. The Officer will conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments, lead incident investigations, develop mitigation plans, and facilitate continuous safety awareness campaigns. The main purpose of this role is to maintain 100% compliance with safety standards, minimize workplace incidents, and foster a culture of safety excellence across the Sales Floor, Warehouse, and Collections Office. The Hats You May Wear Compliance Guardian: Implement and maintain compliance with ISO 45001, OHS Act, and company standards across all operational areas. Risk Manager: Identify high-risk areas, develop mitigation plans, maintain updated risk registers, and ensure preventative controls are in place. Incident Investigator: Lead or support incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Safety Auditor: Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure all operational areas adhere to safety regulations. Trainer and Coach: Conduct health and safety inductions, refresher training sessions, and facilitate toolbox talks with supervisors and team leads. Safety Ambassador: Promote continuous safety awareness campaigns across departments to foster a proactive safety culture. Emergency Coordinator: Develop, update, and test emergency procedures including fire drills, evacuation plans, and ensure emergency equipment is maintained. Documentation Specialist: Maintain and submit all required H&S reports, registers, and documentation ensuring audit-readiness at all times. Continuous Improver: Identify improvement opportunities to enhance workplace safety; support lean and safety improvement projects. Collaborator: Work effectively with operational teams, supervisors, and management to gain buy-in and drive safety excellence. Cultural Ambassador: Implement the company values and culture in the execution of duties and through interactions with all. What Other Details / Experience / Requirements Make Our Eyes Light Up? National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management / Environmental Health or equivalent qualification. Minimum 3 years' experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing or FMCG environment. Strong understanding of ISO 45001, OHS Act, and relevant safety regulations. Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis. Proven ability to conduct safety risk assessments and audits. Emergency response management experience. Excellent training and communication skills with the ability to translate legal/technical safety standards into practical employee guidance. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes and drive corrective/preventative actions. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively to gain buy-in from employees, supervisors, and management. Computer literate in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint). Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting. Ability to maintain composure and react effectively in high-pressure situations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
