Key Responsibilities: Be able to guide branch coordinators on correct allocation of expenses and payments. Perform variance analysis at month end on the monthly income statement and raise enquiries where necessary (checks for cut-off/completeness/accuracy of expenses). Authorisation of bank payments on bank system after agreeing payments loaded to supporting documentation. Assist foreign branch coordinators with the month end process (Provisions to be raised, prepayments to be allocated correctly etc.). Perform balance sheet and intercompany account reconciliations and raise forex adjustment journals for foreign intercompany accounts. Checking and performing bank reconciliations and follow up on long outstanding items on the bank reconciliations with active involvement in eliminating entries for foreign branches Address accounting issues at branches, adapting communication to staff at varying skill levels. Process/checking of month end and ad hoc journals. Assist the financial manager in the preparation of the monthly management accounts. Handle Forex payment requests. Maintenance of the fixed asset register. VAT/PAYE/WHT Ensure accuracy of statutory returns filed by reconciling to underlying accounting data. Provisional tax Perform calculations for provisional tax submissions (foreign branches). Debtors Pass customer adjustment entries where required. Process bad debt write off entries as per request. Be able to check and understand debtors’ accounts. Calculate monthly bad debt provision for foreign branches. Creditors Pass supplier adjustments entries where needed. Be able to check and understand creditors accounts and the reconciling there-off. Forecast and budgeting process Assist the financial manager during the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process. Should have a good understanding of both forecasting and budgeting principles. External audit process Provide reconciliations and address queries raised by external auditors. Have a good understanding of the audit process. Qualifications and Skills: B. Com Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, Honours /Post degree in Finance/ Accounting qualification will be advantageous. 3-5 years Senior Financial Accountant experience. 5 - 10 years as an Accountant (Advantageous) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven track record & experience in construction industry (preferable Formwork and Scaffolding sector). Knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations (South Africa and African countries). Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end processes. Deadline-driven with excellent time management skills. Strong attention to detail. Team player who can work independently without supervision. Proficient in Microsoft Office. #J-18808-Ljbffr
