Assistant Regional Representative Guidelines Regional Representatives shall, as needed to best serve their region, propose Assistant Regional Representatives to the BJCP Board for approval by a simple majority vote. Assistant Representatives work within regions at the local level, and are selected to be in proximity to clusters of BJCP judges and activity. Assistant Representatives are generally appointed in areas within a region that are geographically different than the Regional Representative. Assistant Representatives should have the requisite experiences, skills and knowledge of the BJCP in order to fulfill the job duties listed for the role. In general, a rank of National or higher is used as a baseline qualification that a proposed Assistant Representative has the qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the role and has the required knowledge of various aspects of the organization. However, Assistant Representatives may hold lower than National rank if they have demonstrated considerable commitment to and knowledge of the organization, or in the case of a lack of available judges of higher rank within a region. It is preferred that the smallest number of assistant reps be utilized to effectively serve a region. As additional Assistant Representatives are added to a region, the appointments should be evaluated against regional demands such as local member concentration and the geographic dispersion of the region. Appointing Assistant Representatives for every state or country within a region should be avoided as assistants should be able to serve multiple areas. Assistant Representatives should be located throughout the region so that no two are in close proximity to each other. New Regional Representatives shall consider the previous Assistant Representatives in their region and propose any changes to the roster of assistant representatives for their region. Regional Representatives should work to build a team they can effectively work with to better serve the region’s members and the BJCP. Regional Representatives shall use these guidelines when considering proposing or voting on new Assistant Representatives. These are guidelines and can be flexible to meet the future needs of a region or the organization. The main intent of these guidelines is that Assistant Representatives are qualified for the role, fill a need for BJCP representation within a region, and can work effectively with the Regional Representative to serve the region’s members. #J-18808-Ljbffr
