PURPOSE OF THE JOB To tender and procure goods and services in area of responsibility (commodity) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Purchasing Diploma or higher is essential Must have at least 2 years experience as a Buyer in the mining environment Computer literacy (MS Word & MS Excel) is essential Must have good financial control skills A valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate COMPETENCIES Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Must have good interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external clients Understanding of basic accounting practices is essential Must demonstrate knowledge and application of ethical conduct KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Analyse Purchase Requisitions to determine if sufficient detail was provided to conduct a proper market survey in the form of RFQs or formal tenders Ensure that all Technical Specifications, Scope of Work and bill of quantities is correct Determine suitable bona fide suppliers for procuring goods/services Search, evaluate and suggest alternative Suppliers for sub-commodities Compile tender documents for formal tenders or send RFQs to suitable suppliers Evaluate all quotations and select suppliers based on prescribed criteria, all technical specifications and Scope of Work (Transformation status of Supplier, Description, Price, Lead times) Place orders cost effectively with Suppliers for goods and services required Identify repetitive special purchases for Contract action Achieve accredited BEE spend targets and increase spend on local tier one suppliers Ensure that all procurement policies and work procedures are followed and adhered to Must assist with relieving and other administrative activities in the procurement department Our people set us apart and make us a winning team we are excited to have someone new join our ranks IMPORTANT: Short listed candidates may be subjected to a psychometric assessment.
