KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide professional advice on utilisation, control, and management of approved capital and operational funds. Control external funds (grants, donations, sponsorships, contracts) received from external institutions in accordance with UP and entity policy guidelines. Process and verify financial transactions in the faculty. Produce accurate and timely accounting statements and reports. Identify and manage financial risks relevant to the faculty. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's or BTech degree in accounting (third-year level). Five years of senior financial accounting experience (second and third years of SAICA articles considered). Advanced competency in MS Excel. Experience in research grants administration and reporting. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Application of IFRS standards. Relevant South African tax legislation. Management reporting. Accounting business cycles. Budgeting. Proficiency in MS Office. Appropriate business writing and communication skills. Accountability for own performance. Commitment to delivering value to clients. Ability to plan and prioritise tasks. Evaluation of research grants / contracts. ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES Honours degree in Financial Management or Accounting. Three years of working experience in a higher education environment.
