Job Purpose To fulfill duties of the Plant and Engineering functions of the site maintenance team. Carrying out repairs and maintenance to the electrical and mechanical assets as well as plant settings. Key Responsibilities Monitor and adjust, when necessary, plant set points to ensure effective and efficient running of plants. Inspection of all electrical and mechanical equipment on site. Monitor and inspect plant for potential and existing defects. Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment. Fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment. Installation and project work as required. Perform standby on a rotational basis. Work overtime as a result of breakdowns and planned maintenance when required. Check report books daily and liaise with Maintenance Manager on action to be taken on reported defects. Report any defects noticed while performing normal functions. Perform breakdown functions on electrical and mechanical equipment. Liaise with cross functional teams to achieve quality, delivery, safety and production requirements. Lead a team of artisans and artisan assistants to achieve production requirement through machine availability Experience & Qualifications Matric with appropriate engineering qualifications Relevant Trade Test qualification (Red Seal Fitter, Electrician or Millwright) is essential Minimum 5-year experience in FMCG manufacturing environment specifically in a diaper or sanitary pad manufacturing facility post qualification Minimum of 2 years leadership / junior management experience. Hands on knowledge of PLC and servo systems Experience with variable speed drives, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical drive systems. Experience with electrical power distribution (medium and low voltage) Knowledge of safety checks on mechanical equipment in accordance with OHSA Maintenance planning and reporting on daily, weekly and monthly machine availability and efficiencies. Skills & Competencies Planning and organizing skills Ability to function within a team Computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office Ability to work under pressure Ability to read drawings Assist with other jobs that may reasonably be required within the maintenance department Ability to work outside electrical/mechanical boundary Good communication skills (verbal and written) Working Conditions Ability to work outside normal working hours (shift work on a rotational basis) Required to work overtime as a result of breakdowns and planned maintenance when required Relocation to be provided to candidates outside of KwaZulu-Natal Premier FMCG is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to Employment Equity and transformation.
